What Is Vape Liquid?

The fluid that turns into vapour when used in electronic cigarettes is called vape juice. Additionally, it is known as:

  • E-liquid
  • E-juice
  • Vaping liquid
  • E-cig juice

No matter the size or appearance of the vape device, e-liquid is necessary for all forms of vaping, this is due to its ability to produce vapour. Vape juice is made available in a huge variety of flavours, viscosities, and nicotine levels.

What’s In Vape Liquid?

There are some required and optional substances used to make e-liquid. These components can be divided into nicotine, flavourings and sweeteners, and base liquids (PG/VG).

PG/VG:
Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, also known as PG and VG, make up the foundation of vape juice. Although it happens occasionally, 100% VG juices are not as prevalent as 100% PG juices. Additionally, VG and PG make up the customary 70/30 or 50/50 ratio on an e-liquid bottle, with VG commonly coming first.

Flavour:
Water-soluble flavour concentrates are typically created by businesses that produce food flavourings and/or perfumes. They include everything from fruits to chocolate-glazed pastries to tobaccos. Sucralose is the most commonly used sweetener in commercial e-juices, which typically contain other ingredients.

Nicotine:
The decision to use nicotine is always up to the individual. It is present in e-liquid in different amounts, from less than 1% to 5%. Most e-juice lines sell nicotine-free e-liquid for users who don’t want to use it.
There are several different nicotine strengths for e-liquid. Here are some of the most typical:

  • 3 mg/mL or 0.3% = super low
  • 6 mg/mL or 0.6% = low
  • 12 mg/mL or 1.2% = low to medium
  • 18-24 mg/mL or 1.8% – 2.4% = medium to high
  • 36 mg/mL or 3.6% and above = super high

Finding the e-liquid that will help you sate your cravings is quite simple because there are so many different nicotine strengths available. Additionally, you can discover that you need various strengths throughout the day. Depending on your situation, what works for someone else might not work for you. The beauty of it is that you are able to customise your vaping experience.

Can Vape Liquids Go Bad?

In a technical sense, yes, e-liquid can spoil. However, it’s not the same as food spoiling. Vape juice has a long shelf life. It might even turn brown over time and even change colour, but this doesn’t indicate that it’s past its prime. As a general rule, e-liquid can last up to two years from the date of manufacture.
How long your e-liquid lasts will depend on how well you are able to keep it away from heat, sunshine, and oxygen. Don’t run to store all your bottles in the fridge though! The best way to make sure your preferred juice will last as long as possible is to store it tightly closed in a dry, cool cabinet.
Some bottles of e-liquid will have an expiration date, while others won’t. However, infant formula is the only product that needs to have an expiration date according to FDA regulations for consumables. The manufacturer may choose the “best by” and “expires on” dates.

Other F.A.Q.s What if I accidentally swallow a bit of e-liquid?

There won’t be any negative side effects from ingesting a little nicotine-free vape juice. It’s different if your vape juice contains nicotine, however it’s not necessarily a problem. No matter how strong the juice was, call poison control if you manage to consume a significant amount.

Can vape liquid leave stains on fabric?

Most of the time e-liquid stains will disappear after being washed. To be extra safe, you can also dab some dishwashing liquid on the stain and massage it with a soft cloth. However, some e-liquid may contain synthetic colouring that could smear on your clothing. These typically have more vibrant colours and are simple to spot.

I spilled my e-liquid! What should I do?

Kitchen paper will do the trick if there is only a tiny amount. Go the extra mile and use a bit of surface cleaner if you spill the entire bottle, especially if there are children or pets (especially cats) nearby. Since nicotine can penetrate the skin, gloves should be worn when cleaning.
