About the book 'Americans in America':
This book is somewhat of a report from a person who worked as a correspondent for 'Izvestia' in New York from the end of 1961 to the middle of 1968 and was accustomed to reporting on newspaper pages. They, as is known, are limited, but I have accumulated many impressions, as well as a desire to tell more about them. Now the newspaper gives me the opportunity to encapsulate my report into a solid book binding, enriching it with more elaborate materials ('Near New York', 'The Death of King', 'Furious California'). The essays and reports selected by me are arranged in chronological order, and through this chronology, the events and phenomena of America in the 'explosive 60s' reverberate with a sometimes dramatic and ominous resonance. In general, this is a book about Americans against the backdrop of their country, their society, and their problems.
