Leading Construction Firm Seeks Financial Controller for Key Strategic Role
Wicklow, Ireland - A well-established construction company is seeking a Financial Controller to lead its finance team and drive strategic financial growth. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to manage financial operations, oversee compliance, and play a key part in shaping the company's long-term financial strategy.
The position is based in Wicklow, with a hybrid working model availableafter an initial six-month period, allowing for three days on-site and two days working from home. Due to the company's location, candidates must have their own transport.
A Strategic Leadership Opportunity
The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Director, partnering closely on financial planning, budgeting, and performance optimisation. Managing a team of four, the Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of financial operations, overseeing multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional transactions, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leadingthe finance team, ensuring strong performance and continuous improvement.
* Managing payroll, supplier, and subcontractor financial functions.
* Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
* Ensuring VAT, tax, and other regulatorycompliance across multiple jurisdictions.
* Developing budgets and cashflow forecasts, both short and long-term.
* Supporting external audits and liaising with tax advisors.
* Collaborating with the commercial department to ensure accurate project cost estimations.
* Streamlining financial processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
The company is looking for a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with at least three years of post-qualification experience. A minimum of five years in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry, is required. Candidates should have a strongunderstanding of European accounting principles, currency transfers, and multi-jurisdictional finance.
The ideal candidate will have a commercially driven mindset, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and develop teams. Proficiency infinancial software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
