The Company
This privately owned SME design and manufacture hi-tech capital equipment which is sold locally and internationally. The company are highly successful, innovative and currently offer a combination of being office based and working from home. They have a workforce of 55 with a head office in Bridgend, South Wales and 2 small oversea entities
The Role
The role will suit a part qualified management accountant and play a pivotal role supporting the Finance Manager to ensure the timely delivery of accurate monthly management accounts, KPIs and reporting, to add value tothe business as a Finance Business Partner and to continuously improve the finance function of the business.
Duties include:Month End
* Supporting the Finance Manager in delivery of accurate monthly and quarterly reporting covering: monthly management accounts, budget and standard cost variance reporting, project/job costing, business KPI's and profit & cash forecast* Shared responsibility for balance sheet controls and reconciliations ensuring financial integrity of the management accounts,co-ordination of reporting, review of posted transactions, balance sheet, multi currency bank account, and intercompany reconciliations, fixed asset schedule, stock/WIP, prepayments and accruals
* Take part in the review of month end figures with managers
* Help develop processes and information required to manage the production of monthly and quarterly management accounting information
Information and System Integrity
* Supports the Finance Manager to ensure the integrity of financial data/information held
* Contribute to the development and improvement of financial applications and databases
* Assisting in supporting the production of KPI's, management accounts and management information
* Make continuous improvements in information/reports
Business Planning
* Will play a pivotal role supporting the Finance Manager with the annual financial budget timetable* Ensures budget holders receive and understand financial information to fulfil their own responsibilities
Compliance
*Internal - Help identify opportunities to develop and improve robust and effective financial procedures, controls and systems (IT) regularly reviewed and part of ISO where applicable
* External - Play a critical role supporting the Finance Manager withthe annual Financial Audit
* Work closely with external Auditors to ensure an efficient Audit
Finance Leadership
* Supports the Finance Manager, Finance Director and the Management Team to promote an organisational culture of teamwork through excellent financial service provision noted for its high quality and accountability
* Promote the work and the professional image of the Finance team to the organisation and external stakeholders
* Proactive personal development of themselves as a consummate Finance professional
* Deputise for the Finance Manager as required
People
* Development of the financial acumen of non financial managers and other finance team members to fulfil their financial obligations.
* Able to give and receive constructive feedback on areas for improvement.
Continuous Improvement
* Identify areas for improvement in the reporting process and work with the Finance Manager to develop and implement changes
* Prepare ad hoc commercial reports/analysis
* Is proactive in seeking out an understanding of how the business operates and the key business drivers to help add value and insightto work delivered
* Working directly with the Finance Director, Finance Manager, IT Manager and management team on individualprojects to improve the flow of financial information
* Supports the business by providing support to proposers of improvementand development projects including feasibility studies, options appraisals, financial models and business cases
* Support initiatives to maximise income, identify and recommend initiatives that deliver value for money
Requirements
* Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business Management or other relevant degree; part qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
* Proven backgroundworking in the Finance department of a manufacturing SME
* Demonstrable experience supporting the production of monthly management accounts, reporting, balance sheet reviews and departmental reviews
* Able to handle and manipulate large amounts of data in Excel via SQL data queries linked to the ERP system, to produce regular monthly reports and the design of ad hoc reports and analysis
* Great Microsoft Office skills in particular Excel - designing and creating tools and reports using functions suchas pivot tables, vlookup, sumifs, sumproducts, indexing
* Familiar with and has helped develop dashboard reporting for business KPIs etc.
* Part of a team that implemented an ERP system or part of the team that helped increase the RoI of an ERP systemincluding improvements to business processes, system configuration, data collection and reporting output
