The Role
A great opportunity for an experienced and motivated HGV / Van / Plant Technician. This is a permanent full time position based in Newport working 40 hours per week.
The role will be varied on maintenance and repair of a vast fleet of different vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate with be a multi skilled technician and work as part of a close team, they will be accountable for the safe and efficient maintenance of all vehicles, equipment within our customers site operations. Working closely with other areas of the Service Department to ensure high standards are kept and vehicles on the road.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine and preventative maintenance including servicing and inspections.
* Attend machine breakdowns, troubleshoot, fault find defects and repair on site
* Complete job cards with accurate detail of work completed.
* Demonstrate a positive safety culture at all times. Adhere to health &safety requirements and environmental protocols by being compliant with correct PPE, method statements and risk assessments
*Promoting high levels of customer service and professionalism at all times
* Ensuring the workshop is a clean and tidy environment.
* Work effectively as a member of the team and Closely with Main Port Talbot Maintenance Workshops.
* Promoting goodtimekeeping & productivity
Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following experience, qualifications and attributes:
* Proven track record as a Technician in a heavy industry environment, ideally with experience of maintaining vast different types of equipment from Trucks, Trailers, Tankers, excavators and FLTs.
* Must have a recognised HGV/Plant apprenticeship or time served.
* Fully skilled in all aspects of HGV/Plant repairs and maintenance
* Good knowledge of plant equipment, Sweepers, tankers and normal HGV/Van equipment.
* Ability to work to a high standard both independently and aspart of a multi-disciplined team within a busy workshop environment.
* Full Driving Licence
* Class 1 or 2 Preferred.* Comfortable communicating with colleagues and external clients
* Overtime and weekend work may be required
