Work Wales have an exciting new Support Worker position. This role is a specialist position to provide Positive Attachment services to Children and Young people in your region. The main purpose of this role is to grow and develop attachment and traumainformed practice within the area. The charity we are working with provides support for people with Alcohol and/or Substance Misuse to achieve their potential and a higher standard of life. You will be required to help people avoid becoming homeless, helppromote the independence of the people and coping strategies. The company are looking for somebody who is positive, punctual, and motivated to make a difference in the life of the individuals they support.
Duties:
* Manage a caseload, and complete individual needs assessments, risk assessments, support plans and offer practical advice and advocacy to service users.
*Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals to address the persons accommodation and wider support needs.
* Enhance their social skills and participate in their community.
* Support service users to identify the areas of support needed and identify the best option of support based on ongoing needs as outlined in their individual Support Plans.
* To provide a service that complements and enhances the service provision of the local housing providers and specialist substance misuse agencies in the context of the Housing Support Grant initiative.
* Liaise with relevant services, organisations and agencies with regards to accessing additional support for service users.
* To enable service users to administer their financial affairs as appropriate.
* To participate in the provision of an on-call service
Experience:
* Previous experience working with vulnerable client groups.
* Knowledge of working in a community-based service.
* Knowledge of Attachment Styles and the Impact of Attachment Issues in Children and Young People.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with individuals and their families.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals with diverse needs.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations.
