WorkWales have an exciting new Support Worker position within a brand new Children and Young People service in Swansea. The charitywe are working with provides support for people with Mental Health, Addiction and Complex Needs to achieve their potential anda higher standard of life. The aim of this role will to be provide advice, guidance and interventions that aim to keep childrenand young people accessing the service safe and help to improve their mental wellbeing. The service will offer a safe and supportive environment for those using it on a 24/7 basis.
We are looking for:
* Provide a 24/7, non-clinical-based service to children and young people experiencing episodes of mental distress (up to the age of 18), with bed provision available.
* To respond and effectively manage all new and current referrals.
* Providing specialist 1:1 support to all children andyoung people accessing the service; via face-to-face and telephone contact.
* Provide a safe space for individuals to turn to (and the concerned others, if appropriate) experiencing social/emotional crisis, mental distress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and/or having suicidal thoughts.
* Provide a welcoming environment to de-escalate and be supported in a relaxed atmosphere, either in a 1-1 or more informal group/social setting.
* Facilitate practical interventions including meals, beverages,laundry facilities, etc.
* Support individuals in developing a short-term recovery plan for the proceeding hours/days/weeks,as appropriate.
* To ensure the safety of all service users is maintained.
* Work collaboratively with external agencies (including statutory, non-statutory and third sector) to ensure the best outcome for the individual.
* Work flexibly, including actively participating in the rota which includes unsocial hours, weekends and public holidays.
