Description:
Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Analyze LAN/WAN infrastructure and create a high-level design for a Zero Trust network across DoE offices.
* Document low-level specifications and a roadmap for transitioning to the new network model.
* Design a spine-leaf architecture for on-premises compute-storage, and HCI environments.
* Redesign access switching ACLs and VLANs to support blended work and cost-efficiency.
* Lead planning, testing, and deployment ofLAN/WAN upgrades.
* Work with the security team on 802.1x authentication and ensure cybersecurity compliance.
* Attend weekly CAB meetings, providing progress updates to management.
* Develop technical standards and templates; prioritize work with project managers.
* Integrate energy-efficient tech into network design for green networking.
* Support the Department's Enterprise Architecture function.
* Offer expertise on LAN, WAN, VoIP, hybrid DC, and cloud integration strategies.
What is essential to have:
* Proven track record of successful large-scale network deployments.
* Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations affecting network security.
* Expertise in network virtualization technologies, specifically VXLAN.
* Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting 802.1x authentication.
* Strong understanding of 'Zero Trust' security principles and micro-segmentation strategies.
* Experience with network segmentation in cloud and hybrid environments.
* Ability to create detailed network design documentation and diagrams.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Strong leadership qualities and experience managing cross-functional teams.
* Effective communication skills for bothtechnical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
* Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE-ENT or equivalent
