As we expand and evolve, we are now seeking a dedicated and results-driven Purchasing Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in our growth and success.
With an approximate annual spend of £3 million, you will be primarily focused on metal raw material commodities.
Job Brief:
As our Purchasing Manager, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead our procurement efforts, source and purchase materials and engineering parts, and manage our supplier relationships. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will collaborate closely with various departments including production, technical, and quality to ensure that we meet our operational requirements effectively.This role is instrumental in helping us find cost-effective suppliers and streamline our procurement processes.
Core Responsibilities:
* Purchasing Excellence: Procure materials and engineering parts, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
* Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute purchasing strategies to optimise supplier relationships.
* Demand Forecasting: Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
* Data-Driven Decision-Making: Track and reportKPIs to reduce expenses and enhance procurement effectiveness, producing regular procurement reports for management.
* Inventory Management: Utilize the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system to identify materials required and maintain accurate itemmaster data in the ERP.
* Efficient Procurement: Create precise Purchase Orders and purchasing forecasts while supporting thesales and technical departments by raising RFQs, evaluating responses, and making recommendations.
* Streamlined Operations: Assist goods-in with booking queries and liaise with accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.
* Supplier Collaboration:Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery lead-times with suppliers, practicing effective supplier account management.
* On-Time Delivery: Expedite orders and minimize shortages, supporting the Production Manager in ensuring on-time delivery to customer duedates.
* Cost Optimization: Identify new and alternate suppliers, reducing materials costs and renegotiating terms without compromising on quality.
* Logistics Expertise: Handle incoming logistics, including sea and air freight.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management.
* Strong knowledge of metals and engineering commodities.
* Proficiency in using Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) systems.
* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work ina fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
