Water Hygiene Technician
Location: West Midlands
Working Hours: 45 hours per week, typically Monday - Friday (Flexibility required 24/7)
Job Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the effective delivery of a nationwide water hygiene service, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and creating safe working environments for employees, clients, and stakeholders affected by our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain a professional demeanour at alltimes, representing the company and building strong working relationships with our client and their colleagues across various Stores and Depots.
* Attend relevant training courses to stay updated with technical advancements and ensure personal job skills remain current.
* Collaborate with our client and their colleagues to uphold prescribed quality standards consistently.
Technician Responsibilities:
* Prioritise health and safety for colleagues, contractors, and the general public while performing job-related tasks.
* Present a professional image to the client throughout all interactions.
* Adhere to company policies and processes.
* Complete all necessary documentation and registers before signing in upon arrival at the site.
* Communicate with site management/operations team upon arrival, providing an explanation of the visit's purpose and the work to be carried out.
* Fulfil all documentation requirements and obtain signatures as needed before signing out when leaving the site.
* Conduct and finalise site-specific Legionella risk assessment review reports.
* Audit compliance folders, ensuring routine tasks are completed by ASTs (Approved Service Technicians) and other technicians.
* Inspect cold water storage tanks.
* Performappropriate sampling of CWSTs (Cold Water Storage Tanks), cold outlets, and hot water systems.
* Clean and chlorinate cold water storage tanks and associated down systems.
* Schedule cleaning and chlorination activities outside normal store trading hours to minimise risks to staff and the public.
* Ensure accurate completion of paperwork during site visits.
* Report any instances of non-compliance with water regulations.
* Report any required remedial work through company processes and procedures.* Close down jobs upon completion.
* Provide daily updates to line management.
* Provide sufficient notice to the line manager for ordering water hygiene spares, consumables, cleaning chemicals, and replacement equipment.
* Support night shift teams.
* Complete paperwork accurately during site visits and report all faults to the line manager within 24 hours.
* Maintainregular communication with line management.
* Raise jobs appropriately through the Helpdesk when necessary.
People Responsibilities:
* Be highly mobile, requiring national and regional travel.
* Be prepared for overnight stays away from home.* Maintain personal fitness to fulfil tasks such as climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
* Maintain a smart appearance and proper upkeep of the uniform.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Efficiently deliver planned preventive maintenance (PPM) store visits within agreed timescales and plan monthly work schedules effectively.
* Flexibility in terms of national and shift work, including day and night shifts.
* Proficiency in tank inspections.
* Experience in water sampling.
* Knowledge of Legionella awareness.
* Experience in Legionella risk assessment.
* Experience in cleaning and chlorination of water tanks.
* Strong IT skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
