Description:

Consultant Psychiatrist with General Adult, Later life or Neuropsychiatry experience.

The post of Consultant Psychiatrist is a pivotal post with responsibility to lead a multi-disciplinary clinical teamand ensuring that the highest standard of clinical care is planned, delivered and evaluated and that all targets and objectivesare met in line with national and local standards. As Consultant Psychiatrist s/he will have overall responsibility for the:* Provision of the services of a psychiatrist to patients and residents and for the purpose of regulatory compliance.
*Efficient, effective and economic provision of clinical services within a defined budgetary framework.
* Provision of teaching, research and academic support at a senior level as developed at associated educational facilities, e.g. Trinity College Dublin.

Roles and Responsibilities of this post include clinical responsibilities combined with operational input and team leadership

The successful candidate must hold IMC Specialist Registration and have a proven track record as a Consultant Psychiatrist.

They will participate in development of and undertake all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant's area of competence and in line with policies as specified by the Clinical Director. Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director to support the development and delivery of operational and strategic plans. Advise the Clinical Director of clinical priorities and pressures and be an active participant in strategic development discussions. Provide for and ensure the delivery of positive patient and resident outcomes and with the continued strive for excellence. Management of the clinical team members as designated by the Clinical . compliance with all relevant HSE and Mental Health Commission requirements, including adherence to MHC regulationson care planning and medication management. Ensure that systems are in place to deliver accurately and in timely fashion, all statutory information requirements including, for example, Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Facilitate the maintenanceof professional clinical competence. Foster an open and inclusive style of working which facilitates positive relationships. Maintain a patient-safety focus at all times. Maintain one's own professional competence and development to a high standard and demonstrate a proven record of undertaking C.M.E. and C.P.D.
