Description:
Retail Hygiene and Food Safety Officer (Supermarket Group)
Reports to: Operations Director/Group HR Manager
Main Purpose of the Job:
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained across the Group. The role will involve conducting regular inspections to ensure all food products are safe for consumption, managing the food safety and hygiene systems, liaising with external parties and providing training to staff on best practices in food safety and hygiene.
Relevant Skills/Experience:* Minimum of 3 years experience in a food safety or hygiene role, preferably within the grocery or food production industry* In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP and all relevant legislation
* Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage a busy workload in a fast-paced environment
* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
* Abilityto plan and prioritise workloads in line with business objectives
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to build and sustain working relationships at all levels
* Certificate/qualification in food safety or a related field is desirable
Main Duties:
Hygiene and Maintenance;
* Conduct regular hygiene audits of all food preparation and storage areas
* Develop and maintain comprehensive hygiene programs and checklists
* Ensure all cleaning schedules including CAYGO areadhered to and that all cleaning procedures are followed correctly
* Update cleaning and product lists as needed, ensure changes are communicated to Store teams and training is delivered and signed off as required
* Liaise with third-party contractorsto ensure deep cleans/works are completed as needed in the Store
* Report changes and exceptions to Operations Director/GroupHR Manager
Food Safety Management;
* Oversee the implementation and compliance of HACCP and other food safety managementsystems
* Conduct weekly checks in Stores and provide feedback to Store Management Teams
* Complete a comprehensive monthlyaudit in each Store providing feedback to Store Management Teams and Operations/HR
* Ensure compliance with regulations and relevant legislation
* Investigate and address any food safety incidents or non-compliance issues promptly
* Ensure allergensare updated and displayed accordingly
* Monitor the quality and safety of all fresh products including but not limited to meat, deli and bakery items
* Work closely with production teams to ensure the product produced meets internal standards of preparation and presentation
* Liaise with third parties to conduct food sampling and manage services e.g. pest control, fire checks, site works
Audit Support;
* Be available to support stores with internal and external audits Job Description Hygiene and Food Safety Officer Administrator
* Review and maintain all completed audits ensuring corrective action is taken as required and responses issued to third parties as necessary
* Provide regular updates regarding Store performance to the Operations Director and Store Management Teams
* Training and Employee Support;
* Design and deliver training programs for staff on foodsafety, hygiene and proper food handling practices
* Keep up to date with industry trends and regulations ensuring all staffare informed of any changes, and attend any training as required
* Provide guidance and support to staff and foster a cultureof food safety and hygiene
* Liaise with the Store Manager and HR to ensure all training required is delivered and recorded ina timely and appropriate manner
Reporting and Documentation;
* Maintain accurate records of both food safety and hygieneaudits, inspections and training delivered/due
* Prepare and submit reports to senior management on food safety compliance including corrective actions taken/required
* Ensure all documentation is correct and available for internal and external inspection in each store
Other Duties
* Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time, these may include project work or supporting store teams and may be outside of your normal area of workAdditional Notes
