Description:

As a Category Specialist you will be responsible for negotiating industry leading national agreements, ensuring best in classindustry pricing and contract terms and conditions. The key area of focus is sourcing initiatives that are primarily categorieswith low levels of spend, complexity, risk and sensitivity.

Responsibilities:
Understand or demonstrate an aptitude to learn the product categories assigned and how end-users' interface with the products/services including but not limited to:

*Product comparisons between supplier offerings and impact on healthcare providers in deriving value through conversion opportunities
* Interpret and use market information provided by the clients Sales & Marketing Team and Sourcing Team
* With guidance from manager, uses knowledge about supplier to execute strategies, create leverage, and mitigate risks.
* For assigned categories, develop the strategy with the support of their manager, seeking guidance for risk issues and agreeing on risk mitigation strategies.

Sourcing Process

* Present category strategies and final awards to internal stakeholders for review and discussion, prior to being validated by members
* Deliver quality presentations to customers
* Undertake a pre- assessment ofaward scenarios and utilises outputs to inform sourcing strategies for assigned categories
* Utilise knowledge of procurementprocesses to determine appropriate procurement approaches required to deliver required value for all stakeholders
* Undertakeend to end sourcing initiatives in line with organisation's sourcing practices.

Supplier and Customer Relationship Management* Oversee the supplier relationship during the sourcing process. Participate in supplier business reviews and reviews new products/technologies/services as they arise in assigned categories.
* Build effective working relationships with customers with interaction primarily being through member presentations
* Identify key customer relationships to be established, to supportthe growth of the assigned portfolio
* Build and nurture effective customer relationships through frequent interactions (alllevels, including executive) and engagement activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* 2-3 years procurement experience with a proven track record of delivery against targets
* Strategic Sourcing and Category Management experience
* Experienced negotiator
* Supplier relationship management and project management experience
* Accomplished user of e-Procurement systems, Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Access, Outlook
