Description:
My client is hiring a Senior Category Lead for their Procurement department. Reporting into a Category Manager, the Senior Category Lead is responsible for strategic procurement operations within the aligned business area(s).
The post-holder willpartner with the Category Manager in leading medium-high complexity Strategic Sourcing Events and Category strategies (complexity being management of high value, high risk, critical to business, multi-stakeholder engagement projects). This will involve engaging and building strong and established working relationships with senior stakeholders to identify business needs and then ensuring we understand the supply chains so we can offer the best solutions.

Key Accountabilities
* Deliver multiple medium-high complexity Strategic Sourcing Events within the Integrated Security Systems (ISS) and Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) portfolios, working with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand and ensure the best possible solutions.
* Lead Category Management activities including the development and execution of category strategy and execute supply and demand levers including standardised strategic sourcing processes from market engagement through to award, ensuring goods / services are procured in a best-in-class manner that drives value.
* Work with Contract Managers to ensure the successful delivery of contracted activities, identifying continuous improvement opportunities through engagement with suppliers and stakeholders, and maximizing value for money from contracts awarded.
* Lead the overall development and delivery of assigned category strategyand share best practice across other category teams (as appropriate).
* Role model excellence in procurement standards, taking a proactive role in mentoring / providing guidance to Buyers and Associate Buyers to ensure best-in-class methodologies are adopted and utilised across National Grid Procurement.
* Profile category characteristics and research supply markets, suppliersand assess trends, opportunities and risks feeding insights into the Global teams and Market and Supplier Development teams (asappropriate).
* Delivering value by effectively managing tender events for key products and services required by the business.
* Contribute to an effective forward planning process by identifying future requirements of supported areas and ensure robust forecasting is put in place that maximises value of goods / services procured.
* Scope and develops regional contractual agreements that meet the customer stakeholder requirements and expectations.
About you
* Has significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management activities or has led end to end complex commercial business strategies and projects.
*Has experience of leading highly complex or valuable procurement events from start to finish.
* Has strong project managementprinciples and can handle multiple projects, consistently delivering outstanding results.
* Has experience of preparing for and leading negotiations at a senior level.
* Has the ability to build and manage complex commercial assessment models.
* Hasstrong research and data analytical skills with ability to convert information into actionable insight
* Has the ability to build and manage a range of complex commercial assessment tools
* Has experience of contract development, including the abilityto make recommendations and amendments to existing contracts as well as drafting new ones.
* Good knowledge of medium-high complexity contract forms, terms and conditions desirable, but not essential.
* MCIPS-qualified (or working towards this) desirable but not essential
