Job Description
Reporting to the Electrical Associate Director you will be an experienced electrical design engineer with a thorough understandingof technical, commercial, and construction experience within the electrical industry.
You must be dynamic and enthusiastic with good interpersonal and business development skills, with a broad experience in professional and project work and with a railservices background.
The post duties will include the undertaking of rail electrical LV and station/building design services on a local and national basis in accordance with the client's contract scope/requirements, current regulations, British and rail standards and specifications.
What you'll be doing:
* requiring the checking and preparation to NR submission requirements of designs/briefs, specifications, feasibility studies, site inspection, commissioning and maintenance testing/certification, associated with a varied range of rail Infrastructure and electrical services including project management covering
*MV/ LV main distribution
* lineside plant and control (including points heating and earthing)
* lighting, trackside, tunnel, platform and station buildings (general and emergency), lightning protection, small power and Life critical alarm, security and access systems,
* SCADA plant interfaces
* M&E system control and building management systems
Requirements* degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Ideally you will be chartered by a professional body
* consultancy background with a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in the design, implementation and supervision in relevant aspects of rail electrical design and construction. An understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a construction project
* an extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant electrical legislation, standards and procedures. Familiar in the use ofAmtech and industrial standard lighting design software
* capable of discussing engineering issues and identifying solutions.Supervising and monitoring staff, chairing and managing progress meetings, identification and assessment of additional paymentsdue to variation orders or compensation events, determination of project final accounts and completing the defects period
* an experienced Electrical Design Engineer familiar with the preparation of professional engineering designs, reports and feasibility studies including cost estimates, investigating problems, and identifying of options.
* checking schemes and design deliverables in accordance with NR/L3/ELP/27406 for approval
