Description:
My client are a prestigious government organisation with offices in London, Manchester and Bristol. They're seeking a HeadEconomist for an initial 7 month contract assignment (inside IR35). The role can be done predominately remotely - with office work expected once per week.
This position is paying £600.00 - £650.00 per day.
As the Head Economist your role will be to work in a collaborative way across government to continue to work and provide leadership to the economist team. You will be the economic focal point, in particular as the point person for the Deputy Director and CEO. This role will require strong leadershipskills to bring together a large number of differing teams to optimise monitoring and evaluation, built on a strong foundationof economic modelling and evaluation experience.
Main responsibilities:
* Work within a strong network across governmentanalysts and finance leads to develop a community that owns the monitoring and evaluation of digital transformation
* Providing and presenting regular progress reports and where necessary to the wider Cabinet Office, HMT and other government departments* Ensuring all business cases which need external approval either by Cabinet Office or HMT are approved in a timely manner
*Communicating savings success stories to HMG stakeholders and the general public through transparent means
* Provide wider leadership across the Strategy, Economics and Policy team as well as the Strategy & Engagement directorate.Being the focal point for economic analysis and advice
* Line manage, mentor and coach a small team of economists and analysts
For this role it is essential that you have:
* Strong Track record of leading the monitoring and evaluation of projects or change programmes
* Experience of developing high value economic business cases; understanding and application of the Green Book techniques applied in Impact Assessments or Business Cases
* Experience of line managing economists and leading an economic function
* Experience of influencing and establishing strong working relationships with senior finance leads/offices and similar functions and senior management boards
* Track record of working in large government institutions with the ability to translate complex and broad material into clear written or oral communications;
* Experience of stakeholder management across central governmentand with communicating complex issues particularly to senior stakeholders
* Demonstrable experience of programme management and planning
* Economics degree to at least undergraduate level
