Overview
Our client is searching for an exceptional leader for their technology organisation, taking on a brand new role as Head of Technology. You will inherit a productdevelopment team with the goal of taking them to the next level. We aim to become a best-in-class software engineering companyand we need a leader like you to foster cohesive and strategic projects across a team of 25+ people encompassing engineering, IT, business analysis, QA and operations.
What you will be doing as Head of Tech:
* Lead the technology teamto continue the planning, development and implementation of the roadmap, including timely decommissioning of our legacy systemsand the creation and transition to a sustainable architecture, based on best practice.
* Own the planning and prioritising ofresources across the Technology team to ensure an effective balance between our tech transformation, our BAU project delivery and ongoing maintenance and support of our platforms and services
* Work collaboratively with the stakeholders, where relevant,at all levels across the organisation to ensure that our technology services and products are customer-led, cost effective, scalable, easy to use and meet current and future needs
* Further develop our capability, processes and team structures in managing change, agile software development and rapid deployment, cyber security, data management and service management
* Ensure that a clear vision and delivery plan for our technology services is communicated to all staff and that ongoing delivery is transparent and well- communicated across the group and that all dependencies and risk are well managed
* Ensure teams are well-balanced and have (or to have access to) the correct skills to succeed.
What we need from you as Head of Tech:* 15+ years of experience with a 4+ years in a management position
* Previous experience in a senior software engineering role (preferably architect level)
* A track record of running a technology organisation of >20 people
* A track record of building and scaling high functioning technology organisations
* A track record of developing technology strategies aligned withbusiness objectives and following through with exceptional planning and tactical execution
* Previous entrepreneurial or division head experience
* Experience in high performance/high throughput platforms
* Still remains hands-on with technology onsome level
* Equally strong in people management and organisational structure as in technology appreciative & supportive of the role people play in bringing tech to life
* Able to identify gaps, weaknesses and risks on all levels of the technologyorganization and plan and mitigate accordingly, so that it remains robust and able to deliver in the face of change
* Equallystrong at delivering value individually as being able to deliver through others by leveraging their strengths
* Frequent use of data when making decisions
* A good balance of high-standards, detail-orientation and pragmatism
* Doesn't sacrifice long-term value for short-term results
* Ability to balance competing interests across often divergent requirements
