Infrastructure Engineer -3rd Line Support & Project Work - Birmingham Office - Remote Working From Anywhere Within The UK.
As an Infrastructure Engineer within this superb corporate Software company based in Birmingham, you will be joining a motivated Infrastructure team that all work remotely, providing their internal Users & Hosted Clients with 3rd Line Support & Project work across theirlarge & complex IT environment. If you're an Infrastructure Engineer with good physical & Virtual Windows Servers experience, then this role & team are for you!
The Infrastructure Engineer will provide day to day 3rd Line support and will be part of project teams delivering technology improvements across the IT environment, so good troubleshooting skills are required.
From installation, configuration, troubleshooting, supporting, undertaking maintenance such as patching & updates andimplementing Automation, the Infrastructure Engineer has a broad remit across Windows Servers (2012 to 2022), VMWare for virtualisation, Active Directory, configuring Group Policy, ADFS, Domains, WSUS and Solarwinds. With the company actively migrating platforms to the Cloud, an understanding of AWS or Azure Cloud would be useful but isn't essential.
Responsibilities Include:* Working across a wide variety of Windows Servers and Applications to provide a prompt, friendly and professional 3rd Line support & Project service to their internal IT users & external Hosted Clients, including system management & administration, Virtualisation, Automation, Scripting, developing high quality documentation & testing new implementations.
* Planning and installation of new Server hardware & software, monitoring system uptimes, ensuring high availability whilst resolving complex client related problems and designing/implementing all data centre and internally hosted infrastructure
* Identifying & addressing system configuration and/or performance irregularities.
* Identifying and implementing Automation at every opportunity
* Documenting and improving existing infrastructure processes and procedures
* Serving as a technical resourceto multiple projects across different business units
Preferred Skills & Experience:
* Solid experience as an Infrastructure Engineer within the Windows environment, used to providing 3rd Line and project support
* Good Windows Server skills including builds, configuration & implementation
* Strong troubleshooting abilities
* Automation experience using Ansible, Powershell or scripting
* Virtualisation using VMware
* Active Directory, GPO, ADFS, Domains, Permission Models & WSUS* SolarWinds or similar monitoring solutions
* HPE Primera /Nimble storage or similar
Useful Experience Includes:
*Knowledge of Citrix servers or Applications
* Experience of supporting Linux
* Some knowledge of Cloud solutions AWS, GCP orAzure is beneficial
* Previous experience mentoring or guiding less experienced Engineers
