Description:
* Linux Engineer / Systems Administrator
* Up to £42,000 per annum
* 90% Remote working with occasional travel to either Solihull, London, Northampton or Halifax - whichever you live closest to
We are looking for an experienced and strong Linux Engineer / Systems Administrator to join this global cloud-based software company.There is no fixed requirement for you to be on-site so offering 90% remote working. If you are required to be on-site it canbe at any of their offices so whichever site is closest to you will be fine. Their offices are in Solihull and Halifax and theyhave two data centres located in Northampton and London.
You will be working within a close-nit team of 7 Engineers whosit in a wider IT team of approx. 30 people.
Key Role aspects for Linux Engineer:
* Maintain and manage an estate of ~250 Linux servers ranging from virtual to physical servers. (various OS versions including RHEL / Centos / Alma and Ubuntu)* Have a keen interest in automation (ansible) and be able to drive forward automation solutions / recommendations
* Ensure antivirus / inventory tools and monitoring tools (Solarwinds, Dynatrace) are up to date on the Linux platforms
* Upgrades and OS maintenance work as and when required - including regular patches to the Linux estates
* Maintain and implement documentation in accordance to internal policies and procedures
* Able to help design and implement high level documentation
* Follow astrict change control process & ensure compliance with ISO standards
* Advise on best practice, contribute and technicallylead on project delivery
Required skills and experience:
* The ideal candidate will not only have a solid background as a Linux Engineer / Systems Administrator but also have that interest and experience within Automation so knowledge of Ansible will be a big plus in your experience
* Another bonus would be experience of Cassandra data stack but this is only desirable so no worries if you don't have this
* Linux & VMWare certifications or demonstrable extensive experience in BAU & security
* Working knowledge of SAN storage, Citrix, VMware & Microsoft stacks
* Problem-Solving Skills
* Good Attention to Detail
* Provide Out of hours cover as part of a rota
Desirable:
* Server hardware experience
* Strong scripting experience & skills
* ITIL Foundation
* Exposure to inventory management tools /Cassandra database stack / Commvault backup beneficial
* Desire to continue to develop own skills and mentor other colleagues within the infrastructure team
