The Emergency First Aid at Work Refresher Training is a course that provides refresher training to those qualified in the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course and is ideal for workplace first-aiders who wish to maintain their qualification and update their skills. The course is designed to correct or validate the knowledge, understanding and practical skills developed during the initial EFAW course. It includes a combination of documentary and practical sessions and complies with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The course offers an overview of the essential life-saving techniques, such as assessing an incident or casualty, communication, and casualty care, using protocols specified in the 2015 Resuscitation Council UK guidelines. The course covers the legal aspects of first aid, the contents and maintenance of a first aid kit, basic hygiene in first aid cases, how to provide first aid in the workplace and how to call an ambulance, as well as assessing and treating an unconscious adult casualty, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and providing emergency first aid to a casualty who is choking, injured, suffering from shock or is unresponsive. Participants will also be taught how to recognize and manage further injuries, such as suspected fractures, minor wounds, burns, eye injuries and heart attacks.
