American Airlines is simplifying its AAdvantage and the process of earning the flying club benefits by replacing Elite Qualifying Miles, Elite Qualifying Dollars and Elite Qualifying Segments with one single metric known as Loyalty Points. American Airlines Reward Miles will be awarded in the same manner as previously, however, now it will also determine the number of Loyalty points that a member has received.
With the new scheme, AAdvantage members can achieve Gold status with 30,000 Loyalty Points, Platinum status if customers have 75,000 points, Platinum Pro status with 125,000 and Executive Platinum Status with 200,000 Loyalty points.
Status Extensions
American Airlines has also decided to extend the existing tier of Elite Advantage members. All members with loyalty status set to expire on January 31, 2022, are now extended to March 31, 2021. In future, members will qualify for status from March through February, every membership year, with their status valid till March 31 of the following year.
Loyal Choice Rewards
In a further change, American Airlines is also revising the formula it uses for the qualification of the Loyalty Choice rewards program. In 2022, AAdvantage members will become eligible for Loyalty Choice Rewards if they fly at least 30 flights on American Airlines or qualifying partner airlines and achieve Platinum Pro status.
