As a volunteer, you're also likely to receive only a sliver of an understanding of how children are cared for and what challenges they encounter. This is because most volunteers do not receive any form of training before moving abroad, which means that the places where they serve are unlikely to require much specific experience. Working with kids has made you appreciate your childhood and upbringing even more. It may have made you more conscious of children's rights and the need of ensuring that all children have a bright future. It will also make you feel humble, appreciative, glad, sad, angry, joyous, and a variety of other emotions. So, despite the obstacles and challenges, you are likely to continue volunteering.
