Kunming Medical University was founded in 1933 as a government institution situated in Kunming, China. Its campus spans 125.4 hectares and was established with the primary objective of providing medical education.
In 1993, the University of Kunming gained recognition as one of the premier institutes in Yunnan province. Subsequently, in 2012, it was officially renamed Kunming Medical University following evaluation by the Ministry of Education of China.
Kunming Medical University boasts 5 research institutes, 9 affiliated hospitals, 9 teaching hospitals, 39 practice hospitals, 9 forensic medicine sites, and 2 optical practice sites.
The university's library houses a collection of 100,000 books and is integrated into a national literary network. Its affiliated hospitals accommodate over 9,800 beds and admit more than 3,000 patients daily.
Since its establishment, Kunming Medical University has conducted 800 scientific research projects, receiving national and provincial-level recognition.
